Double & Multiple Casting
A production double cast in groups — a Blue cast and a Gold cast playing alternate nights, as many schools do — is set up from the Casts button on the Characters tab, or the show menu (⋯) → Casts. You can also switch on This production has more than one cast when you create the production.
- Name the casts: "Cast A" and "Cast B" to start; rename, recolour and reorder them, or add more (up to ten). With one cast or none, nothing about casts appears anywhere on the production
- One set of characters: don't duplicate a part per cast. Put both performers in the part's Played By list, then choose each performer's cast in the Casts box under it on the character card
- Every cast is the default: a performer you don't put in a cast plays the part in every cast — the usual answer for ensemble members who sing in both. A student can lead in one cast and be in the other cast's ensemble, because the cast belongs to each part they play, not to the person
- Gaps are flagged: once a part is split by cast, its card says which cast has nobody in it ("No one plays this part in Cast B")
- Viewing one cast: the Cast & Crew tab and the scene page's Cast list get an All casts / … switch, and each performer carries a coloured chip naming their cast. Crew and people without a part show in every cast
- Paperwork: the Cast List PDF gets one column per cast (landscape for three or more), and the program's Import from Characters adds every performer with their cast as the note
- Deleting a cast asks where its performers go — another cast, or every cast. Nobody is taken off a part
- Who can change it: anyone who can edit the production's details. Every collaborator can see the casts. Duplicating or exporting the show keeps them
