Mic Cues & Mic Tracking

In the Cues view of the Tech tab, and in the Cues panel beside the script, one mic cue holds everything a single GO does to the mics — the way a prompt book writes "ON Mabel, Frederic · OFF 1, 2".

Steps

  • Add step for each thing the GO does: ON OFF SWAP (a mic passes from one performer to another) or HOT (a mic left live while its performer is offstage).
  • Performers: pick characters and their mics come from the Mic Plot for the cue's scene — the picker shows "Mabel — Mic 3". The cue remembers the character, so a re-plot or an understudy's mic follows them. A character not on that scene's plot uses the one mic they wear elsewhere in the show, and the cue says so.
  • Groups (Choir, Band…) and other mic numbers ("1, 3, 6-8") work alongside performers in any step.
  • Level: an ON or HOT step can be Low, Normal or Loud.

What's live

  • Under each mic cue, the cue sheet and the script panel show what the cue does with performers' names, then Live: — every mic still on after it, in running order through the show. The edit form shows what was live before the cue.
  • A swap shows who the mic leaves and who it goes to, when the cues and the mic plot say: "SWAP 4: Frederic → Pirate King".
  • Notes in amber flag things worth a look: a mic turned on that's already on (or off twice), a performer with no mic on the plot, a mic that isn't on this scene's plot, a group with no mics, or a mic that's live during a swap. They're information only — nothing stops you saving.
  • When a scene ends with mics still live that the next scene's plot doesn't carry on, the scene shows Mics … are still live at the end of this scene with an Add OFF cue button that adds the cue at the end of the scene. Each mic is flagged once, where it should first have gone off.
  • Generate with AI writes mic cues by performer and adds these end-of-scene OFF cues for you; its notes say they were added by CueCall.
  • Import from Script reads "MIC ON 2, OFF 1,3" as one cue with two steps, and a name in a mic note that matches a character becomes that performer rather than a new group.

The Mic Tracking report on the Reports tab prints all of this as one sheet: every mic down the side, every mic cue across the top, shaded while each mic is live.
