Import Cues from the Script
In the Cues view of the Tech tab, Import from Script reads the cue notes already written in the show's script — "LX 4: dim to blue", "MICS ON 1-6", "PROJECTION: Bull Pen", "Auto Continue" — and lists them for you to check. It copies what is written; it doesn't invent cues (that is what Generate Tech Cues is for). It needs cue-editing access and a PDF script uploaded on the Script tab, and it doesn't use AI credits.
Being rolled out: this is switched on account by account. If you don't see it on your cue sheet, it isn't on for your account or company yet — ask support to turn it on.
Reviewing what it found
- Nothing is saved until you choose Add: reading the script only produces the list. Close the dialog and the cue sheet is unchanged.
- As written: every note shows the words it was read from and its page, so a misreading is easy to spot. Untick anything you don't want.
- Scenes: a note is filed under the last scene heading before it in the script. Notes that come before any heading are gathered under No scene yet — pick a scene for them, all at once or one by one, or untick them. The Add button waits until every ticked note has a scene.
- Numbers: a number written in the script is kept (LX 4 stays LX 4). Notes with no number are given the next free one for their department when they're added.
- What counts as a note: something the production added — handwriting, a margin note, a typed line with a department label such as LIGHTS, MICS, MUSIC or PROJECTION. The script's own printed text is left alone, including its numbered music cues and stage directions.
- Mic notes: mic numbers, ON/OFF, LOW or LOUD, and group names such as "Choir" are carried over. A note that turns some mics on and others off ("MIC ON 2, OFF 1,3") becomes two cues, one for each. A group the show doesn't have yet is created empty — the script says "Choir", not which mics that is — so fill in its mic numbers under Mic groups afterwards.
- Sound notes: a note that names a song on your song list is linked to it, which is how the cue finds its track later.
- Already have cues? Imported cues are added after the ones on the sheet. If you run the import twice, untick the notes you already have.
Long scripts
The script is read a few pages at a time, and a full-length musical takes about two minutes. If some pages couldn't be read, the review says which, so you know the list is incomplete; run it again in a moment. Scripts up to 240 pages are read in full; a longer one is read that far and the review says so.
