Mic Cues from the Mic Plot

On the Mic Plot tab, Generate and Import both offer Also add mic cues for each scene. The mic plot says who wears which mic; ticking this also writes the mic cues that open and close those mics, so the cue sheet and the Export for QLab package have them. It needs permission to edit cues.

  • Top of each scene: an ON cue for the performers whose mic is new to the scene or has changed hands.
  • End of each scene: an OFF cue for the performers the next scene does not carry. The last scene turns everything off.
  • Mics that carry over stay on: the same performer on the same mic in the next scene is not turned off and on again.
  • Named by performer: the cues name characters, so a later change to the mic plot moves them with it.
  • Your own cues are safe: a scene that already has mic cues (typed in, imported from the script or generated) is left alone. Cues added this way before are updated in place each time you tick the option (keeping their numbers and their links to QLab and the run sheet), so regenerating the plot doesn't add a second set. Any that the new plot no longer needs are removed.
  • Inside a scene: the plot can't say when someone enters or a mic swaps mid-scene. Add those by hand, or use Tech › Cues → Import from Script to read them from the script's notes.
