Requesting, Checkout, Return & Settlement
The full rental lifecycle is tracked under Marketplace → My Requests:
- 1. Request (single or multiple items): Use Request Rental to send one item, or Add to request to build a basket of several items and submit them together from Review request. Items from different organizations are automatically split into one request per organization, and you set the dates and pickup/shipping for each organization separately at checkout (each owner may need the items on different dates or only offer pickup). The estimated total is computed up front
- 2. Approve (per item): The owner reviews the request and can approve or decline each item individually before finalizing — declined items aren't booked, and the rest go ahead. A single CueCall booking fee (where enabled) applies to the whole request regardless of how many items it contains. (If a booking fee is enabled, approving puts the request in Pending and notifies the renter to pay the booking fee — the booking is confirmed once the renter pays.) Either side can message the other at any time from the Inbox — the receiving organization's owners and admins get an email when a new message arrives (and again only once they've read the thread, so an active back-and-forth won't flood your inbox)
- 3. Check out: At handover, the owner photographs the item and records condition notes — this protects both organizations
- 4. Return: When the item comes back, the owner documents its condition again and can record adjustments — extra charges for damages or missing pieces, or credits for items that weren't used
- 5. Settle: The final amount (base total ± adjustments) is shown to both organizations and paid directly between them. The owner marks it settled when payment arrives
- Booking fee: Where a booking fee applies, the renting organization pays a small flat fee to confirm an approved request — once the owner approves, the renter completes a quick card checkout to lock in the dates, and the owner is notified the booking is confirmed. If the renter cancels after paying, the fee isn't refundable; if the owner cancels a confirmed booking, the renter's fee is refunded in full. Questions go to support@cuecall.app
- Editing a basket: While a multi-item request is still awaiting review, the renter can remove individual items from it under My Requests — the estimate updates for the smaller basket, and removing the last item cancels the whole request
- Cancellations: Requests can be cancelled any time before checkout
- History: Every step is recorded — click "History" on any request to see the full timeline
