What district onboarding involves
This is optional. You do not need it to run a production with students, and you can start without it. It is only for when you want students signing in with their school accounts, or students under 13 logging in themselves. If that is you, this is what you are asking the district for. Most of it is paperwork; the technical part is an afternoon for your IT team, and nothing changes for you until it is live.
- Who signs: The district, not you or your school. Start by emailing sales@cuecall.app with the name of whoever approves classroom software and student data privacy at the district — often the technology director or a data privacy officer
- Two documents: A student data privacy agreement between the district and CueCall (many districts send their own standard one), and a separate written authorization for students to sign in. Until the agreement is signed nobody from the district can sign in through it; until the student authorization is on file, only staff can. If either one lapses, sign-in stops until it is renewed
- The district's email domains: The district tells CueCall which email domains it uses and whether each belongs to staff, students or both. That is how CueCall decides who is a student — never from anything a student types — and a domain shared by both is treated as students
- Connecting their sign-in: IT adds CueCall as one app in the sign-in system they already run — Google Workspace, Microsoft Entra, ClassLink, HelloID, Okta or any other SAML 2.0 provider — or the district connects through Clever if it uses Clever. CueCall sends IT a setup guide written for your district, and it takes about twenty minutes once the agreement is signed. Students then use Sign in with your school, a CueCall tile in the district portal, or CueCall in Clever
- Class lists, if they want them: The district can send its rosters from Clever or as a nightly OneRoster file from its student information system. You then add a whole class to a production with Add a class instead of typing students in
- Two choices that stay with the district: Whether CueCall may email students, and whether students may use CueCall's AI features. Both are off until the district says otherwise. Students cannot create productions or organizations of their own — their teacher adds them
- Accounts that already exist: If you already use CueCall, tell CueCall before your first school sign-in and your productions move across to the school account with you, even from a personal email address. Students already on your roster under their school address find an invitation to each of those productions waiting when they first sign in
- What it costs: The schools and districts plan is $299 a year with five classrooms included, then $70 a year for each further classroom (a class or group of up to 35 students), paid by purchase order and invoice. Access starts when the invoice is issued, not when it is paid
