Costume Measurements

Track costume measurements for cast members to help with fittings and costume construction — and, alongside them, the Hair & wig measurements a wig maker needs and the makeup allergies a makeup artist has to know about before anything goes on a face.

  • Where to find: Open a person's profile and click the "Measurements" tab
  • From a show: In the Cast & Crew tab, click the ruler icon next to any person to view their measurements
  • Editing: Click "Edit Measurements" in the Measurements tab to update values
  • Fabric allergies: Under Skin & Allergies, record the fabrics and materials that irritate this person's skin — wool, latex, nickel fastenings, glitter, certain dyes. It sits with the measurements because it is read at the same moment: when a piece is being chosen or cut. It shows as a highlighted warning on the Costumes tab (By Actor) and in the ruler dialog, and it prints on the contact sheet. "None" is a real answer — writing it tells the costume team the question was asked and answered
  • Requests on the profile: Below the values, a Measurement requests card lists every request that names this person — which show, what was asked, whether they're complete and how their numbers arrived — each linking straight to the request in Costumes › Measurements. The ruler dialog in Cast & Crew shows the same for the current show, with a button to the show's requests. In the People page's list view, the Measurements column opens the person's Measurements tab

Collecting measurements — Measurement Requests (Costumes tab › Measurements):

A measurement request is the costume team's ask: which measurements this production needs and who has to be measured. Create one with New request, tick the measurements you want — three quick picks fill the list in one press: Usual set (chest, waist, hips, inseam, shirt, pant and shoe size, plus fabric allergies), Hair & wig set (head circumference, front to nape, ear to ear, temple to temple, hair colour and length, and makeup allergies — what the hair and makeup department asks for) and All — pick the people ( All cast Everyone, or Missing something — everyone who still lacks one of the chosen measurements; to ask just one or two people, press None and pick them from the list), and add any instructions. The numbers can then come in any of four ways, and all of them land on each person's profile:

  • On screen: The request's table is editable — type as you measure and press Save. Fractions like 34 1/2 are fine; clearing a box removes the value
  • Paper: Print forms opens one page per person with a labelled box for each measurement and how to take it — up to eight measurements in one column, two columns past that, and three columns when a request asks for more than sixteen, so even a request for every field still fits one page per person. Fill them in by hand, then photograph the pages and press Read photos of forms — CueCall reads the handwriting and shows you a review table to check against the paper before anything is saved (a number it couldn't read is left blank). Up to 20 photos at a time; this is free AI assistance, counted against the daily free-lane limit
  • Spreadsheet: Spreadsheet downloads an Excel file with one row per person and one column per requested measurement, prefilled with what is already on record. Hand it round, then Import spreadsheet to bring it back — rows are matched by the Person ID column (or by name when it is unique) and reviewed before saving
  • Link: Send links emails each person their own private form (to their guardian's address when that is the only one on file) with instructions for taking every measurement at home. The link works without an account, can be reopened to correct a value, and stops working when you close or delete the request. Anyone with a CueCall account who is on a request also sees it on their Dashboard. The link icon on each row copies that person's link to share another way

The table shows who is complete, who is still missing something, how each person's numbers arrived (entered, from the link, imported, read from a photo) and when their link was sent. Close a request when you're done — the table stays readable and the links become read-only. A request only ever writes the measurements it asked for; everything else on a person's profile is left alone.

Who can run one: anyone who can see measurements and can edit people or inventory — Director-level roles, Stage Managers, and Designers/Costumers (the Hair & Makeup Designer included, which is how the wig department collects its own measurements). Choreographers can view requests but not record through them.

Measurements Day Workflow (profiles):

  • Navigation Bar: When viewing any person's profile, use the Previous/Next navigation bar to quickly move between people without returning to the list
  • Status Indicators: On the People list, colored dots show measurement status at a glance: Gray = No measurements recorded
  • Yellow = Partial measurements (some key fields missing)
  • Green = Complete (chest, waist, inseam, and shoe size all filled)
  • Table View: Switch to table view on the People page to see a "Measurements" column showing status for all people at once

Available fields:

  • Basic Info: Gender, Grade
  • Upper Body: Head, Neck, Shoulder, Chest/Bust, Arm Length, Wrist (all in inches), T-Shirt Size
  • Lower Body: Waist, Hips, Inseam, Outseam (all in inches), Pant Size
  • Footwear: Shoe Size
  • Hair & Wig: Front to Nape, Ear to Ear, Temple to Temple (all in inches — the three measurements a wig maker takes on top of the head circumference under Upper Body), plus Hair Color and Hair Length as short descriptions ("dark brown", "to the shoulder"), so the department knows what is under the wig
  • Skin & Allergies: Fabric Allergies and Makeup Allergies — free text, so write what the person actually reacts to. Makeup allergies cover latex (spirit gum, prosthetics), adhesives, fragrance and named brands; "None" counts as an answer, so a person who has written it shows as answered rather than blank. A listed allergy shows as an amber warning on the Costumes and Hair & Makeup tabs' By Actor views and in the People tab's ruler dialog

Who can see measurements: Director-level roles, Stage Managers, Choreographers, and Designers/Costumers can view everyone's measurements. Everyone can always see their own. Cast members, stagehands, lighting/sound crew, parents, and volunteers cannot view other people's measurements — in lists, exports, and profiles alike.

Bulk Upload: Measurements can be imported via the People Excel template. Download the template, fill in measurement columns, and upload to add multiple people with their measurements at once. The template, the People export and the smart import all carry the Hair & Wig columns (Front to Nape, Ear to Ear, Temple to Temple, Hair Color, Hair Length) and Makeup Allergies alongside the costume columns.
