Customizing roles

What a role can do is set in three layers. CueCall's defaults (the table above) come first; a company can change them for all of its shows from Organization → Roles; and one show can change them again for itself from the show's menu → Roles & permissions. Each layer only records what it changes — anything you leave on Default keeps following the layer above.

  • Pick a role, then set each permission: Default follows the layer above (the screen says what that is and where it comes from), On gives it, Off takes it away. For example, turn on Edit inventory for the Sound Designer, or turn off See contact details for the Crew.
  • A show's setting wins over the company's, and the company's over CueCall's. Reset returns a role to the layer above.
  • Edits come with what they need: turning on Edit cues also turns on Open the cue sheet. Turning a view off takes the matching edit with it.
  • Who can change them: a company's defaults are changed by its owners and admins. A show's are changed by the show's owner and by the owners and admins of the company it belongs to. Production roles — Directors included — can't change them. A company admin who is also cast on a show can't give their own role there something they don't already have.
  • What stays fixed: who can edit the show's settings and manage its team, and budget access (granted per person on the Budget tab). A feature the show has switched off in Features stays off whatever a role allows.
