AI-Powered Scene & Character Generation
After creating a show, CueCall can use AI to suggest scenes, characters, and inventory either from a recognized show title or from production documents you upload.
- Two options: Choose Generate from Show Title or Upload Production Materials
- Where to find it: Use the Generate with AI button in the show’s Scenes Characters, and Inventory tabs.
- Generate from Show Title: Best for well-known published plays and musicals. AI uses the title (and your existing data) to suggest additional scenes, characters, and inventory.
- Upload Production Materials: Upload scripts, cast lists, spreadsheets, or other documents so AI can extract data from your actual materials.
- Supported files: PDF, Word (.doc/.docx), Excel (.xls/.xlsx), and plain text (.txt, .md, .csv, .rtf) — up to 10 files at once, 50MB per file and 60MB across the selection.
- If a file can't be read: CueCall names it on the review screen instead of reporting an empty result. A document saved by another tool sometimes only looks like a Word file; re-saving it as a PDF, or pasting the details into a plain text file, gets it read.
- Very long documents: If the analysis is cut short, the review screen says so. Add what it found, then run it again with a narrower selection of documents to pick up the rest.
- What gets extracted: Scenes, characters, and inventory (costumes, props, and set pieces).
- Files are saved: Uploaded materials are saved as Production Files for the show so your team can reference them later.
- Review before importing: You'll review each section and choose what to add before CueCall creates anything in your show.
- Following along while it runs: The guided flow runs several AI calls in turn, so it shows a checklist of every stage — scenes, characters, costumes/props/sets, and the song list — with a tick and a count against the ones already done, a timer on the one running now, and how long that stage usually takes. Uploading documents shows the file-by-file upload progress. Each stage is saved as you approve it, so closing the window only loses the stage still in progress.
- Stopping part-way: Use Stop and finish later on any step — or a Skip button, or closing the window — and CueCall first shows you exactly where that leaves you: what's already saved to your show, whether a step already running will still use its credits, and any suggestions on screen that would be discarded (generating those again later costs credits again). Pick the run back up any time with Add more with AI on the Overview tab; it only suggests what isn't in your show yet.
- Fallback: If AI can't extract useful data, you can skip and add scenes, characters, and inventory manually.
