Projections
Projections are digital images designed to be projected onto a stage backdrop, cyclorama, or screen. They are managed as inventory items linked to specific scenes.
- Creating Projections: In the show's Sets tab, click "Add Item" and select "Projection" as the category. You must select a scene for the projection to be linked to.
- Scene Context: Projections use scene and show details (location, description, show vision) to generate contextually appropriate AI images.
- Where to View: Projections appear both in the Sets tab (Projection category) and in the Files tab under "Projections" where you can see them organized by scene.
- AI Image Generation: Use the AI Image Generator to create theatrical projection images. The AI generates 16:9 widescreen images optimized for stage projection.
- Bulk Generation: Generate images for many items at once with the "Bulk Generate Images" feature, from the inventory view on the Costumes, Props or Sets tab. Filter by "Projections" to generate only projection images. This works the same way for costumes, props and sets.
- Choosing Items: Every item in the list starts ticked. Untick the ones you don't want, or use Select All / Deselect All, and only the ticked items are generated. The credit line above the list shows the total for everything ticked (for example "51 credits (3 × 17)"), so you know the cost before you start.
- Adding More While a Generation Runs: If a generation is already running — say, costumes — and you open Bulk Generate from another tab, you'll see its progress. Click "Add More Items" to pick props (or anything else) and "Add to Queue": they're generated after the items already waiting, in the same run. Items already in the queue aren't offered again, so nothing is generated or charged twice.
- Stopping Bulk Generation: Click "Stop" to cancel a running bulk generation. This clears all queued items and returns you to the selection view so you can start a new generation. If a generation was interrupted (for example by a page reload), the dialog shows "Generation paused" with options to Resume the queue or Stop & Clear it.
- Running Out of Credits Mid-Run: If your AI credits (or your organization's) run out partway through, the run pauses after the first item it couldn't pay for and the remaining items stay queued. Add credits or your own Gemini API key, then open Bulk Generate Images and press Resume. The same applies to Beautify Slideshow, and to the daily AI limit, which resets at midnight UTC. If you lose permission partway through (for example, your edit access to the show is removed), the run pauses with the reason shown instead of retrying.
Projection Image Guidelines:
- Format: 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio for standard stage projection
- Style: Bold, high-contrast visuals optimized for projection onto a large surface
- Content: Scenic backgrounds, landscapes, cityscapes, interior settings, abstract patterns, or atmospheric effects
Tip: Fill in the scene's location and description to give the AI better context for generating appropriate projection images.
